Take Action

The stories of the women featured in this project are unique, and they are also not alone. Countless of agrarian women across the Peru, Ecuador, and beyond continue to confront the impacts of machismo, sexism, and a changing world. The devastating impacts of climate change on the livelihoods and culture of small scale farmers are more prominent that ever, and we must listen to the stories of women on the frontlines to look ahead to a just and equitable future where women and farmers are seen and valued.

The following list is only a short representation of organizations and efforts happening in Ecuador and Peru where our narrators are based out of. There is incredible work and efforts happening to support, and more stories to share and more work to continue and begin.

This program empowers women farmers in Ecuador and beyond by providing training in regenerative agricultural practices, resources, and networking opportunities. Approximately 95% of participants recognize the benefits of these practices for healthier soils and increased yields.

This non-governmental feminist organization collaborates with rural women to recover water sources using traditional techniques known as “seeding and harvesting water.” These methods help adapt agriculture to climate variability in the Andean region of Cuzco.
